I am committed to ensuring disability is represented in literature. A story’s depiction of a protagonist navigating life with a disability is what we mean by this. Since I’m an active reader myself and an author, I feel that this is important, as it raises awareness among friends and gives people the information they need without them realizing they’re doing it.

Disability representation is one of the most important things in literature, as it allows people to view the world from our point of view, as people with disabilities, rather than hearing about it from another person’s perspective. The reader can get a real sense of what it is like to live in their world by understanding the characters’ meanings.

If the research is done correctly, and the proper representation is done, readers can get a positive perspective on disabilities instead of the negative one we are surrounded by. If not, stigmas will persist in certain literatures, not on purpose, but just due to a lack of research conducted by the author.

I feel that literature could be interpreted in one way or another when it comes to representation. There is the possibility that it could help debunk the stingers that surround negative views of disabilities or it could contribute to their continuation. The importance of disability representation lies in this reason. Getting the scoop on life comes from digging deep into other people’s stories.

In terms of stigmas, society has to make sure that people are aware of them and that some kind of positive way is being brought to their attention. I think it all starts with literature. If you want to teach the kids something, something young, at a young age, you should have them pick up a book from the library.

Our focus on disability and literature will lead to more books that feature characters with disabilities from many different cultures. These characters will be represented in many different representations of a variety of people at numerous times. Perhaps the world will become less stigmatized and more familiar with our version of reality.

As a disability activist and author, I am able to properly represent Cerebral Palsy and bring awareness and end the stigmas that have existed for many years in society.

According to my theory, disability in literature is critical to proper representation because it raises awareness of the issue and ends any stigma associated with it. Disabilityliterature.com’s mission is to explore authors and books in depth. However, they’ve also written about books that feature characters with disabilities. They argue that disability should be portrayed as a common phenomenon because we all have our own stories and book covers to share so that perspectives can be changed.
